How To Help Your Older Dog Stay Active
Alongside supplements, there are a variety of ways to help your pet to stay active, particularly as they age and enter their senior years. While daring jumps or demanding agility courses may not be suitable for our older dogs, they still need regular exercise. Here are some tips to help keep your senior dog active:
Take Your Dog On Shorter Walks
When your pet starts to slow down and show signs of joint stiffness, it can be difficult to know what an appropriate amount of exercise is for them. The ideal sweet spot is to take your dog on shorter walks more frequently, with plenty of rest in between. Around thirty minutes of walking daily, split into two or even three outings, is more appropriate for a senior dog. However, every dog is different, so take note of what works and adjust what doesn’t. The key is to move consistently but in moderation!
