FAQs
How does my dog get worms?
There are 4 common ways your dog can pick up intestinal worms:
- By swallowing infected fleas while grooming
- By ingesting worm eggs from a contaminated environment (for example, toys, grass or soil)
- By eating or scavenging carcasses of other infected animals (for example, mice, rabbits or birds)
- From the mother to her puppies, either across the placenta before they're born, or via her milk when nursing
How do I know if I need to worm my dog?
You shouldn't wait until you start seeing signs of worms before giving worming treatment to dogs, because infections don't always show signs until they're severe.
Signs of worms can include weight loss, a bloated tummy, diarrhoea, vomiting and dogs scooting their bottoms along the ground (but these signs are not specific to worm infections - they can indicate other issues).
Worm eggs are microscopic, but you might see worm segments (looking like grains of rice) in your dog's stool or around their bum.
Is my dog more at risk from worms at certain times of the year?
No, dogs can pick up worms at any time throughout the year. Worm eggs can survive in the environment for several years and infect your dog anywhere they explore.
Not for use in dogs weighing less than 17.5kg.

For routine treatment, worm your adult dog(s) with Frontline wormer every 3 months.
In certain circumstances, it may be advised to use dog worming treatment more frequently. For example, if your pet lives with small children or an immunocompromised adult, or where your pet has frequent risk of infection. In these cases, or if your dog has a heavy roundworm infection, we recommend contacting your vet for further advice.
For the control of Toxocara, nursing bitches should be dosed 2 weeks after giving birth and every two weeks until weaning.
