Frontline wormer for cats is a broad-spectrum cat worming tablet that kills the intestinal worms most commonly found in cats in the UK: both roundworms and tapeworms.

It’s meat-flavoured and can be given with or without food, making it easier to give and enjoyable for your pet. Frontline Wormer is suitable for cats and kittens from 6 weeks of age and weighing at least 1 kg. It’s also licensed for use in nursing cats.

Worms are easy to pick up from infected soil, grooming and hunting, and by the time we spot symptoms like digestive upsets, weight loss or lack of energy, the problem is already well established. Worms can affect humans too, causing ill health and even blindness. That's why pets need regular worming.

FAQs

Do indoor cats need worming?
Yes, cat deworming tablets should still be given even if your cat doesn't go outdoors but worming can be carried out less frequently, such as once or twice a year. This is because they could still pick up worms from other sources - such as other pets in your home, eggs carried into the home (for example, on people's shoes) or if they have fleas and ingest them while grooming.

Is my cat more at risk from worms at certain times of year?
No, cats can pick up worms at any time throughout the year, so it's important to keep up with worm treatment for cats. Worm eggs can survive in the environment for several years and infect your cat anywhere they explore.

How do I know if I need to worm my cat?
You shouldn't wait until you start seeing signs of worms before giving worming treatment to cats, because infections don't always show signs until they're severe. Signs of worms in cats can include a bloated tummy, diarrhoea, stomach upsets and a change in appetite (but these signs are not specific to worm infections - they can indicate other issues). Worm eggs are microscopic, but you might see worm segments (looking like grains of rice) in your cat's fur, around their bum, or in their bed, poo or vomit.

Do not use in pregnant cats.

Active Ingredients: Pyrantel and Praziquantel

Dosage:

• 1 - 2kg body weight - half a tablet
• Over 2kg - 4kg - one tablet
• Over 4kg - 6kg - one and a half tablets
• Over 6kg - two tablets

To ensure administration of a correct dose, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible.

Administration and Treatment:

For oral administration. The tablet should be given directly to the cat, but if necessary can be disguised in food.

For routine treatment, worm your adult cat(s) with Frontline wormer every 3 months.

In certain circumstances, it may be advised to give cat worm treatment more frequently. For example, if your pet lives with small children or an immunocompromised adult, or where your pet has a higher risk of infection. In these cases, or if your cat has a heavy roundworm infection, we recommend contacting your vet for further advice.

For use as a kitten worming tablet, give every month from 6 weeks until 6 months of age. In roundworm infestation, especially in kittens, complete elimination cannot be expected, so a risk of infection for humans can persist. Repeat treatments should, therefore, be carried out with a suitable roundworm product at 14-day intervals until 2-3 weeks after weaning.

Do not use in pregnant cats.

If signs of disease persist or appear, consult a veterinary surgeon.
