Caninsulin VetPen Cartridges - 2.7ml Suspension for Injection - 10 Pack
In stock
The preservative used in Caninsulin has changed. This does not affect the dose required or the administration of the product but does affect the storage, smell and appearance.
Caninsulin should be stored upright in the fridge before first use but once a vial has been broached, it can be stored at room temperature (25°C or lower) and the in-use shelf-life is now 42 days (instead of 28 days).
Caninsulin now has a more "medical" smell due to the new preservative (metacresol) which is used in human insulin products.
The medication may appear slightly more "milky" and the colour of the cap on the vial has changed from gold to silver.

You then insert the needle through your pet's skin and inject the insulin through the push of a button. This simple process enables greater accuracy and reduces the chance of dosing errors.
The VetPen has been designed specifically for use with Caninsulin and should not be used with any other insulin products.
Caninsulin cartridges should be refrigerated and protected from light before opening, and the VetPen should be refrigerated after the cartridge has been started. VetPen should always be stored and carried with the needle removed and the cap on. To clean the device, wipe with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.
VetPen contains a reusable insulin cartridge that allows you to provide multiple doses with minimal preparation time. However it is still necessary to prime the devise before the use of each new cartridge and mix the insulin prior to each injection. When all the insulin has been used, you simply remove the empty cartridge and insert a new one.
