Animed provides a long established service to horses' owners. In addition to normal routine visits for vaccinations, teeth rasping and stud work. We perform many purchase examinations, lameness investigations and react quickly to emergencies such as colics and road accidents. There is a fully equipped Equine Unit adjacent to the hospital at Shedfield with full surgical and diagnostic facilities, endoscopy, ultrasound, X-ray, ECG etc and in-patient care
Home visits are carried out throughout south Hampshire and Western Sussex.
The standard visit fee applies to all other calls carried out during normal hours in the week, a higher fee is charged out of normal hours and at weekends which reflects the increased cost of providing a comprehensive emergency service with a dedicated equine vet on call at all times. During office hours you may find it more convenient to bring your horse to the equine unit at Shedfield in which case no visit fee will be applied.
Emergencies always take priority. We aim to have a sufficient number of veterinary surgeons available so as not to unduly disrupt our routine service to our clients.
We are reluctant to accept clients further than 30 miles from Wickham so that we can attend emergencies as rapidly as possible. We are fortunate that the road network in Hampshire is good and we are close to the M27 reducing our attendance time.
